A Toney two-story plan is a matching job. The foyer plank is in. The stair is still what the builder left: carpet, painted MDF risers, and a skinny rail that does not belong with the floor. Rocket City Stairs keeps a sound stringer and replaces what you walk on. Solid wood treads and risers — usually oak — go on. Skirt boards get recut so the run meets the adjoining plank. The rail can stay if it already belongs. More often it does not, and we replace newels, a wood handrail, and wood or matte black metal balusters in the same visit so you are not hiring a fabricator after the oak goes in.
Ranch houses in Toney are the other stock. Those flights are shorter, often off the living room, and they were never a two-story foyer showpiece. Worn treads, a wall rail, and a few spindles are common. A makeover still keeps the structure when it works. A remodel is the better quote when the guard also has to change. A full custom install is uncommon unless an addition opened a hole the old stair cannot fill. We decide that at the Toney house, not from a Madison photo and not from a Huntsville in-town stair with plaster that leans.
That is a different job from Twickenham or Five Points. Toney housing is acreage, newer two-story, and ranch — not plaster town-center millwork. Lots out here run longer than a Madison infill lot. The stair still sits in the middle of a lived-in house, which is why containment is advanced and virtually dustless. Extraction stays up while we pull carpet, fit treads, and finish a cap so dust does not travel the ductwork.
Stain matching follows the floor that is actually down — builder oak, a newer gray-brown plank, or a floor the sister crew at Alabama Hardwood Restoration is about to install. We sample on your boards under Toney light. A chip card in a showroom does not tell you whether a honey oak reads warm next to a north-facing foyer or belongs with a cooler plank. The nosing, the skirt, and the handrail should look like one crew left them.
Harvest ZIP 35758 and Meridianville sit on this same north Madison County loop. If Toney is the name on the mailbox, say Toney on the form so the visit is scheduled for that stop, not treated as a Huntsville neighborhood add-on. There is no public shop address. Josh Templet comes to the house with a tape and a free written estimate. Licensed and fully insured. Interior hardwood only — we do not weld outdoor steel, deck rails, or commercial metal stairs.
Open versus closed sides change the carpentry more than the town name does. A Toney two-story with one side open to the foyer needs newels and a continuous handrail, not just a wall rail. A ranch flight closed against both walls may only need a grip along the plaster. We measure both at the house. That is one reason this page does not publish prices. Rise count, species, framing under the carpet, rail scope, and finish match all change the written estimate.
Stair parts — treads, wood handrails, newel posts, balusters, risers, skirts, rail hardware — are available with or without installation if you are coordinating other trades on a Toney remodel. Most homeowners want the install included so the cap, the nosing, and the floor are one crew. The process is the same owner-run visit we use across Madison County: measure the opening, check the stringer, look at the floor the nosing has to meet, and write the estimate before a tread is cut. If a metal shop already quoted outdoor steel, say so — that is a different trade, and we will tell you whether the interior stair is still ours. Call (256) 665-2161.

Stairs in Toney
Toney stairs sit on larger north Madison County lots — newer two-story plans with leftover builder carpet after the first-floor hardwood is in, and older ranch flights off the living room. The stringer is usually sound. A carpet-to-hardwood makeover is the usual quote. A remodel is the better job when the rail also has to belong with the plank. Harvest and Meridianville are the adjoining names on this loop. Interior hardwood only. Call (256) 665-2161.

Interior staircase railings in Toney
Toney railing work is usually a leftover builder guard on a carpeted or newly hardwooded two-story — or a short ranch flight that never had a real balustrade. We install wood handrails, newels, and wood or matte black metal balusters on that interior stair. The metal is infill. The structure you hold is wood. Harvest and Meridianville sit on the same north Madison County route. We do not fabricate outdoor steel.

Custom staircase installs in Toney
A new custom interior stair in Toney shows up when an addition opens a hole the old flight cannot fill. We build solid wood treads, risers, skirts, newels, and a wood or wood-and-matte-black metal rail, finished to the adjoining hardwood. Most Toney houses keep a sound stringer and need a makeover instead. We say which quote it is on the free on-site estimate.
